Bonobo / Marina & The Diamonds
Another couple of songs from me. Like the last one I posted I’ve got a song that’s showcasing an excellent contemporary soul singer. Andreya Triana has sung on tons of tracks and worked with lots of people, but the one artist who’s work she features on the most is Bonobo. He produced her debut album called ‘Lost Where I Belong’ that dropped earlier this year and she takes vocal duties on three of the songs on Bonobo’s ‘Black Sands’. She has also worked with the Tru Thoughts label, which in my experience is only ever a good thing. Anyway, enjoy this song. It’s got a chilled groove and some excellent sax work (look here for my take on that). It’s also long enough that you can really get into the song.
Bonobo – Stay The Same Feat. Andreya Triana
My second song was tricky this week: I’ve got a lot of songs that would fit the bill, it’s now a bit of a race against the clock to get them all up. Sadly we’re going to be wrapping this up in the new year so that your computer doesn’t just get full of chilled music that stops you ever being productive. We’ll make sure that there’s a full playlist and we’ll even try and get super-savvy so that you can get the songs on iTunes and Spotify… Watch this space! But now for my second song. It’s a remix by a producer I’ve never heard of before but it goes down a treat. What they’ve done with the vocal is excellent and the song has been made so empty and sparse there’s enough room for a herd of elephants to go running about in it. Definitely one to sit back and close your eyes to.
