Secret Diaries, the producer we featured a little while back for his Stock-71 double-mix has just let loose this remix of Stubborn Heart’s recent song ‘Knuckledown’. Yup, that guy up there is hilarious. And at the end of tonight I’d expect my little brother to be in a similarly compromising position. It is, as the title suggests, his birthday. It’s also his twin sister’s birthday (funny that, them being twins) so I thought I’d put up a song that each of them likes. To start with, my sister. We were talking about songs that remind us of family holidays and for some reason we ended up talking about Craig David. Yup, that Craig David. So here’s one of the songs we were talking about. Gang Colours is Will Ozanne, a “post-dubstep” (that genre name has nothing to do with us!) artist from Southampton who is signed to Brownswood. The music he makes is far more than just “post-dubstep” though. He infuses elements of UK Funky, Garage and the moodiness of Burial & co. to create a sound which is very recognisable as his own. His debut EP came out at the start of June and his first full-length effort should be out at the end of this month. This is something that fans of the downtempo bass scene should be listening out for. It’s got sampled vocals, glitchy, twitchy ambient noises and beats that draw from a host of garage influences. And it has plenty of warm sub bass.

Hello and welcome to our blog. There's a bunch of us who write bits about good songs, bad songs or other stuff that catches our ear. Comment, share and generally enjoy the musings.
If you like the songs then buy the music, go to the gigs and get the merch. If you're an artist and you'd like us to take your song down just let us know (email the editor at sacha[@]safetyfunandlearning.com) and we'll make it disappear.
We love listening to music. If you've got something you think we'd like then send it along and we'll get our ears around it.
