#108 – Go Vibe With Tribes

London based Tribes have got a spare few days in September and they’re looking for places to play. Not venues though… It could be your bedroom, your living room, your garden. You get the idea. Continue reading

#89 – Lovebox Weekender

Well look at what I just found out about… Lovebox – Groove Armada’s yearly party in Victoria Park – has got a full on, stellar lineup! Among others SF&L favourites you can find Architecture In Helsinki, Metronomy, Aeroplane and Uffie. A treat? I think so. And that’s all on the Friday. Tickets are a snip at under 30 quid, so why on earth haven’t you got some? In order to rectify this situation you can click here.

I would also like to draw your attention to the lines about halfway down the page at the Vice Arena: Flying Lotus, Spank Rock, Hervé and Hudson Mowhawk are playing. Yet more for you to salivate over. Anyway, there are some tasty songs after the dop to get you in the mood. Take me to them…

#82 – Lewis Floyd Henry

Hello all. Here’s a note about a guy called Lewis Floyd Henry and the fact that he’s playing a gig for some friends of mine soon. If you’ve not heard of him, Mr Henry is a busker who’s been creating quite the stir with his one-man-band setup and his Hendrix-esque voice. Not to mention the fact that the songs he makes a bloody good! His album, One Man & His 30w Pram, came out in February and he’s been ‘touring’ is since then. Which is to say, he’s been finding a spot in a UK city and playing.

It’s not pretentious music, it’s not madly complicated music, but it is bloody good fun. It deserves to be listened to loud with a drink in hand. Which is where my friends over at the After Church Club come in. Continue reading

#49 – Festival News

It’s getting to that kind of time when all sorts of festivals are starting to release their lineups and a few have got me pretty excited. First up is The Great Escape on the south coast. It’s a Camden Crawl style festival that sprawls all over Brighton from the 12th-14th of May and it’s being headlined by DJ Shadow, Arcade Fire and Sufjan Stevens. Yup. Big names. But they’ve also got Warpaint, Villagers, Brasstronaut, SBTRKT and PVT playing, among others. Tickets start at £45 for the earlybirds, so if this is whetting your appetite then get on it now.

Warpaint – Undertow [Buy]

PVT – Church With No Magic (Midnight Juggernauts Remix) [Buy]

Two more festivals this way…

#33 – Consolidation Prize For Some, Maybe

Have a look at this. It belongs to a friend of mine who’s just finished studying music in Liverpool and he liked it so much he decided to stay up there. I know, why, right?? Well, there’s no accounting for taste. Luckily he likes good, interesting music and he likes to write about it:

He also puts on gigs. So if you’re on Merseyside and you see the name ‘La Racaille presents’ you know it’ll be a cracking lineup.

Also have a listen to some music that he makes here.
